"affirm the responsibility of the Church in each generation to make this faith its own in reality of worship, in honesty of thought and expression, and in purity of heart before God." - Preamble of the Constitution and Bylaws of the United Church of Christ
It has been an honor and blessing to have spent years researching our Church's ministry with/to/by/for Generation X. My passion for this research rests in personal experience with Gen Xers, my respect for their unique spiritual journeys and my hope for the future of the Church.
My research begin within the halls of Lancaster Theological Seminary and was under the leadership of Dean Anabel Proffit, Rev. Rolin Russell and Dr. Lloyd Hartley. Lectures and presentations based on this research occurred at the following venues:
Alliance for the Renewal of Ministry groups of Lancaster Theological Seminary, various locations (2001– 2002)
UCC Evangelism Event, Orlando, FL (August 2002)
UCC Evangelism Event, Minneapolis, MN (July 2003)
"Justice Matters" course, Andover Newton Theological School, Andover, MA (Spring 2006)

GEN X PRAYER - This piece considers the unique religiosity of Gen Xers. It is a prayer that considers a generation of people who seek and hope for community, family, home and inclusivity in all areas of their life.

Xers ultimately care more about finding a religious identity rooted in community than their own uniquely personal spiritual quests. - page 24
